Upgrade Service

As well as providing quality replacement parts for both our own presses and presses of other manufacture we also provide an upgrade service to improve the performance of our older presses and those manufactured by other suppliers.

We are able to improve press performance by utilising our knowledge of worm assembly design that has been accumulated over many years and refined by developing specialised computer programs. The result is our multi-stage, low-compression worm assembly.

Benefits that can be achieved by using Rosedowns designed worm assemblies can include increased throughput, lower residual oils, less power consumption per tonne of feed and extended wear life of parts.

We have already redesigned worm assemblies and improved the performance for the following makes of press:

Anderson • Dupps/Stork • French/Fommco
Harslev • Krupp/Harburg-Freudenberger • Masiero
Mechanique Moderne • Olier • Rentec • Shann • Sket • Stord • Suehiro

It is a fact of press operation that parts will wear. The wear is mainly caused by the friction generated between the feed material and the press parts, it is this friction that makes the press work.

Rosedowns worm assemblies are designed so that part wear does not immediately impact on press performance. Good design with good materials and manufacturing techniques can make a significant difference to part life.

The Rosedowns Upgrade for Rendering Presses

The Rosedowns upgrade for rendering presses has been one of our major successes.

Based on the success of our own Sterling series rendering presses we applied our unique multi-stage low-compression worm assembly technology to rendering presses of other manufacture. The conversion to Rosedowns assemblies has been so successful that now over 90% of the rendering presses in the UK and Eire are fitted with Rosedowns designed assemblies. These include presses made by Anderson, Dupps, Stork, Harslev and Krupp.

The results of  the Rosedowns conversion are immediate and include:

  • Up to 40% more throughput with the existing motor
  • Up to 40% less power consumption per tonne of feed
  • No need for a hydraulic choke mechanism to be used
  • Reduced burning of the cake
  • Greatly improved ability to handle soft and bad materials

The lower worm assembly operating pressure also provides

Less wear per tonne of feed

More even wear of the assembly

Lower solids content in the fat

Smoother press operation with reduced ‘spitting’
